The conservation area is administered by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, an arm of the Tanzanian government, and its boundaries follow the boundary of the Ngorongoro Division of Ngorongoro District.

The Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera, lies within the area.

Day 5: Ngorongoro  – Serengeti National Park

9 days Expolre Tanzania Safari after breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park with lunch picnic lunch, via Olduvai Gorge. Game drive en-route. Dinner and overnight. Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. With more than two million wildebeest, half a million Thomson’s gazelle, and a quarter of a million zebra, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa.

The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular – the annual Serengeti migration. The name ‘Serengeti’ comes from the Maasai language and appropriately means an ‘extended place’. The National Park, with an area of 12,950 square kilometers, is as big as Northern Ireland, but its ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maswa Game Reserve and the Maasai Mara Game reserve (in Kenya), is roughly the size of Kuwait. It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the south, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth ,Dinner and Overnight at Ikoma safari Camp

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

9 days Expolre Tanzania Safari  early morning game drive in Serengeti, return for breakfast, thereafter drive to Lobo game viewing around Lobo for the rest of the day. Dinner and overnight Ikoma safari camp

Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world wide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa:

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

9 days Expolre Tanzania Safari  full day game drive in Serengeti. Dinner and overnight Ikoma  safari Camp

A million wildebeest… each one driven by the same ancient rhythm, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life: a frenzied three-week bout of territorial conquests and mating; survival of the fittest as 40km (25 mile) long columns plunge through crocodile-infested waters on the annual exodus north; replenishing the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the 1,000 km (600 mile) pilgrimage begins again.

Day 8: Serengeti Lake Manyara

9 days Expolre Tanzania Safari after breakfast, with picnic lunch, drive to Lake Manyara via Maasai village. Dinner and overnight. The Park derives its name from the Maasai word manyara, which is the name for the plant Euphorbia tirucalli. The Maasai use this plant to grow livestock stockades. Eventually manyara will produce a stockproof hedge which is more durable than any made of cut thorn branches. There is a specimen of Euphorbia tirucalli at the entrance gate. The Great Rift Valley is part of a fault in the earth’s crust which stretches 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. The fault is so massive that when astronauts landed on the moon the Rift Valley was clearly visible to them. In the Manyara area there is no eastern wall to the Rift Valley as there is in Kenya. Here the flattish country falls very gently into a depression, while in Kenya the valley has walls to both east and west. The types of vegetation which occur in the Park are related to the geology of the area, at Dinner and Overnight at  Kirurumu Tented Lodge

 Day 10: Lake Manyara Arusha
