About Kendwa
Kendwa is Zanzibar's most exclusive beach stretch — a seamless curve of white sand lined with luxury resorts and boutique hotels. Just south of Nungwi, Kendwa shares the same tide-free swimming conditions but with a more refined, resort atmosphere. The full moon parties at Kendwa Rocks are legendary, drawing revellers from across the island. Best Time to Visit
Year-round destination thanks to minimal tidal impact. June to October is driest. December to February is warmest. Full moon parties happen monthly and draw larger crowds.
Wildlife & Ecosystems
Kendwa is a prime departure point for Mnemba Atoll snorkeling and diving trips. Humpback whales pass through from August to October. Dolphin sightings are common on boat excursions.
Getting to Kendwa
55 km from Zanzibar Airport (approximately 50 minutes by private transfer). Most luxury resorts arrange seamless airport-to-beach transfers. Kendwa is a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive from Nungwi.
