This tour will allow you to Discover the best of Southern Tanzania. It will take you to 3 of the 4 southern circuit game parks for game viewing, walking and boat excursion for 7 nights. You will spend 3 nights in Selous Game Reserve, 2 nights in Ruaha National Park and 2 nights in Mikumi National Park. We’ll explore areas where you will see the rare SABLE and ROAN antelopes as well as some of the small and large mammals including a variety of reptiles and bird species.

Accommodation will be in a Luxury Tented Camp or Lodge. All booked on full board arrangements.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam - Selous Game Reserve


In the morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam or Airport and drive you to Selous Game Reserve with packed lunch along the way. You will arrive in the Reserve late afternoon. If time permits, we will do a sunset game drive. Dinner and overnight will be at Rufiji River Tented Camp.

Located in southern Tanzania and far from the madding crowds, the Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest game reserve and one of our favourite wildlife viewing areas. It really is a hidden gem! The rivers and lakes of the Selous are the lifeblood of a park that hosts some fabulous game, including elephant, wild dog, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and fantastic prides of lion.

Day 2: Game drives in Selous Game Reserve


Wake up for an early morning game drive in the  Reserve as the sun rises. Mind you that Selous G.R is larger than Switzerland and Denmark.The reserve has the largest population of elephants in Tanzania as well as a large number of buffalos, hippos and wild dogs. Others are lions, elands, bushbucks, giraffes, impalas, baboons, zebras, crocodiles, greater kudus and there’s also a chance to see the rare Sable antelopes.We’ll be back to the camp for our breakfast and then proceed for another game drive. All meals and overnight accommodation will be at the Rufiji River Tented Camp.

Day 3: Selous Game Reserve Walking and Boat tour


Enjoy breakfast in your accommodation and then we’ll proceed for a walking trip in the wilderness, accompanied by an armed ranger guide who will guide you to get close to the animals for fine pictures.

You will have hot lunch in your accommodation before the guide drives you to Rufiji River for an afternoon Boat Tour. You’ll be back to the camp in the evening for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Selous- Morogoro


After breakfast, we’ll depart from Selous for Morogoro and we’ll arrive at Morogoro Hotel for your late lunch, dinner and overnight accommodation. The road is a bit bad for a long drive. We highly recommend staying for the night.

Day 5: Morogoro - Ruaha National Park


After breakfast, check out and continue our journey to Ruaha National Park with packed lunch on our way. We will arrive late in the afternoon. Enjoy the evening leisure at Ruaha River Lodge.

Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania. The addition of the Usangu Game Reserve and other important wetlands to the park in 2008 increased its size to about 20,226 square kilometres (7,809 sq mi), making it the largest park in Tanzania and East Africa. The park is about 130 kilometres (81 mi) west of the Iringa park is a part of the 45,000 square kilometres (17,000 sq mi) Rungwa-Kizigo-Muhesi ecosystemwhich includes the Rungwa Game Reserve, the Kizigo and Muhesi Game Reserves, and the Mbomipa Wildlife Management Area.

The name of the park is derived from the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its southeastern margin and is the focus for game-viewing.

Day 6: Ruaha National Park


After breakfast, we’ll dedicate this day in Ruaha National Park for morning and afternoon game viewing and to look for Roan and Sable antelopes, Hippos, Crocodiles, waterbucks, Reedbucks and Buffalos as they venture to the river’s edge to drink that attracts attention of Lions, Leopards, Hyenas, Wild dogs, Jackals and many more including Dik-dik. Walking in the wilderness also includes a visit to one of the Africa’s most important historical site, the stone age ruins at Isimila. There are a lot of birds in the park including Eurasia migrants that comes to the park twice a year. You will have all meals and overnight stay at Ruaha River Lodge.

Day 7: Mikumi National Park


After breakfast, check out from Ruaha and then travel to Mikumi National Park with packed lunch and game viewing on the way. If time allows, we’ll go for a game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight will be at Vuma Hill Tented Camp.

The landscape of Mikumi is often compared to that of the Serengeti. The road that crosses the park divides it into two areas with partially distinct environments. The area north-west is characterized by the alluvial plain of the river basin Mkata. The vegetation of this area consists of savannah dotted with acacia, baobab, tamarinds, and some rare palm. In this area, at the furthest from the road, there are spectacular rock formations of the mountains Rubeho and Uluguru. The southeast part of the park is less rich in wildlife, and not very accessible.

Day 8: Dar es Salaam


Wake up for an early morning game drive in Mikumi Park and then back to the camp for breakfast. After breakfast, drive back to Dar es Salaam with picnic lunch on the way where you will arrive late afternoon.
