Nairobi National Park — wildlife with a skyline backdrop
Nairobi is the only capital city in the world with a national park within its boundaries, and this 3-day urban safari reveals why Kenya's capital is a destination in its own right. Far from just a transit point, Nairobi offers a remarkable collection of wildlife experiences, cultural landmarks, and culinary delights that can fill a short trip or serve as the perfect bookend to a longer East African adventure. The journey begins with a game drive in Nairobi National Park, where lions, rhinos, buffaloes, and giraffes roam against the surreal backdrop of the city skyline — a juxtaposition that never fails to astonish. You will visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the world's most successful orphaned elephant rescue and rehabilitation program, and watch baby elephants play in the mud while their keepers share stories of rescue and resilience. The Giraffe Centre offers an intimate encounter with endangered Rothschild's giraffes, who eat food pellets directly from your hand and occasionally offer a sloppy kiss. A visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, set in the Danish author's colonial farmhouse at the foot of the Ngong Hills, brings 'Out of Africa' to life. Between excursions, you will dine at Nairobi's best restaurants — from the famous Carnivore Restaurant to innovative contemporary Kenyan cuisine — and experience a city that is vibrant, welcoming, and full of surprises. This compact itinerary is ideal for travelers with limited time, families with young children, or anyone looking for a memorable start or end to a Kenya safari.

3 carefully curated days across Nairobi
Day 1
Nairobi National Park & Wildlife Sanctuaries
Start with an early morning game drive in Nairobi National Park — the only national park in the world set against a major city skyline. Spot lions, rhinos, buffaloes, giraffes, and over 400 bird species in this 117-square-kilometer wilderness just 7 kilometers from the city center. After the game drive, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust at 11 a.m. to watch orphaned baby elephants enjoy their muddy feeding session. The afternoon brings an encounter with endangered Rothschild's giraffes at the Giraffe Centre, followed by lunch at the legendary Carnivore Restaurant.
Day 2
Karen Blixen Museum, Kazuri Beads & City Culture
Visit the Karen Blixen Museum, set in the colonial farmhouse where the Danish author lived from 1917 to 1931 and wrote her famous memoir 'Out of Africa.' The museum preserves her furniture, photographs, and personal effects against the backdrop of the Ngong Hills. Continue to the Kazuri Beads factory, where single mothers craft beautiful ceramic jewelry, and learn about this remarkable social enterprise. The afternoon is free for exploring Nairobi's vibrant craft markets or taking an optional walking tour of the city center.
Day 3
Morning at Leisure & Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel and a final morning to explore Nairobi at your own pace. Visit the Nairobi National Museum for a deeper dive into Kenya's natural and cultural history, or pick up last-minute souvenirs. Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight or continue to your next Kenyan destination.
